Elisabeth Lohninger, voice
Growing up in a small Austrian mountain village (population 25),
Lohninger started singing in school and church choirs. At the
age of six, she joined her two sisters in what would become a
nationally renowned vocal group specializing in the songs of her
homeland. She soon ventured in other directions and studied
classical music and jazz, finishing her studies with a Masters
degree in music and English Language and Literature. In 1994,
Lohninger relocated to New York. Elisabeth has toured as a band
leader with her quartet as well as in duo and trio settings. Her
touring schedule has included renowned venues such as Porgy
& Bess in Vienna, Jazzschmiede Duesseldorf, The Blue Note,
The Jazz Standard and Kitano in New York City, B-Flat Jazz Club
in Tokyo. Highlights of her festival performances are:
Summerstage New York, Mexico City (Eurojazz Festival),
International Prague Jazz Festival, Cairo International Jazz
Festival, International Jazz Festival Hilden (Germany). Since
2002 Lohninger is a faculty member at the New School for Jazz
and Contemporary Music.
Walter
Fischbacher, keyboards
New York-based pianist Walter Fischbacher is a multi-faceted
artist. For years he has been traveling the world as a
bandleader, sideman and duo partner. Fischbacher's first solo
record entitled "Moments" was released in 2019. His most
recent CD, Phishbacher Plays The Beatles, will be released in
2023. Originally from Austria, Walter Fischbacher has been a
New Yorker by choice since 1994. His solo program is often
described as follows: "Simple melodies embedded in virtuoso
piano playing, a collage of musical styles from classical to
jazz to funk" (press release). Walter's style and repertoire
have matured over the decades and are evidence of a life in
which music is always at the center - authentic and
uncompromising, just like Fischbacher himself.
Cliff Schmitt,bass
Bassist Cliff Schmitt has performed thousands of concerts
since his professional debut in 1992. His first truly
professional gig was on the south side of Dallas with
R&B legend Al "TNT" Braggs, a songwriter for Aretha
Franklin and Bobby Bland. Cliff has gone on to perform in
nightclubs in New York, Paris, Berlin and Rio De Janiero,
and to crowds of thousands at festivals in North and South
America, Europe and Asia. A resident of New York City since
1997, he now spends much of his time in Germany. Cliff is
currently the bassist for Emarcy recording artist Curtis
Stigers, and co-leads a duo project with Guitarist/Harmonica
player Noé Socha called Likho Duo.
Andy Winter, drums
The Austrian-American drummer Andy Winter
received his musical education at the Vienna Conservatory
and gave concerts early on with greats of the local scene
such as Karl Ratzer, Harry Stojka, Wolfgang Puschnig,
u.v.a. In 1988 he went to New York to study at the New
School and has since worked with jazz musicians such as
Larry Goldings, Brad Mehldau, Ron Carter, Mark Whitfield,
Peter Bernstein, Scott Colley, Chris Potter, Ben Monder,
Donny McCaslin, and others.
